E-Patients, Medication on my Laptop!! - When you become your own doctor

Recently, I came upon an infographic regarding E-patients, a term I was not currently familiar with but could easily fathom. I mean, we've all attempted to comprehend or solve our medical dilemmas with the help of some of our most trustworthy technology : computers! We've all, admittedly, been E-patients before. 72 percent of 18 to 29 year olds have admitted to being frequent E-patients, less commonly known as cyberchrondiacs. Perhaps wisdom does increase with age as apparently, only 27 percent of individuals 65 years and older confess to utilizing media to decipher their medical difficulties. Women, who are naturally more stressed and cautious then our sad opposite sex, are more frequent visitors of the Internet in search for curative answers, as we proudly rank at 67 percent as opposed to the male count of 54 percent! Approximately half of the people suffering from chronic conditions visit the Internet for health information, probably because of the generally ineffective results their and their doctor's remedies had. 42 percent of us claim to have an acquaintance who has been helped by using the internet. And you know what? A lot of the time, women approach their lap-top gal-pals seeking aid for other friends needing medical assistance. Have we developed a sudden hate for doctors? A need to conserve what funds we have for more important things than health? Or just been placed with the mentality that internet is the most trustworthy thing we have? Believe me, I am not on the negative side of this argument. Perhaps I should enroll as a permanent patient in the E-ward?
