The Learning Theory - what i learned when i was bored today

The whole concept of this approach was fundamentally initiated by behaviorists. A general aspect of this can be encompassed by referring to the 'tabula rasa' belief, which means clear/empty slate. This is quite self-explanatory: the tabula rasa opinion is mostly one that states that hominids are born as blank cards and develop themselves "color and content" according to environment and experience. An important figure here is John Watson, who essentially pioneered the significant presence of "learning theory approach adherents" in today's world.

Suppositions - the basic beliefs:

1. In order for psychology to be a technical, accurate science, learning theorists believe that only behavior that can be noticed and physically observed should be studied, not the subconscious or links of the mind or anything related that isn't a bodily manifestation (that can be perceived.) Perhaps this is also because of the possibility of exaggeration or an altering of the truth when questioning people abut sentiments and other mental/internal processes.

2. Regarding the nurture vs. nature battle, its fairly blatant that the learning theory approach is adamant regarding its supporting of the nurture side. Learning theorists believe that behavior and character is determined by experience and environment which translates into free-will being illusory. Also, they believe that psychology should study the rules and by-products to learning/acquiring of knowledge

Methods of Investigation:

Scientific investigation is carried out in a laboratory. All experiments have empirical data to support as well as charts, data and evident proof. A lot of testing is done of animals as it is (by theorists) believed that all differences (internal) between hominids and animals are quantitative.

i found that fairly educational and interesting. Perhaps psychology really is my way to go ...
