Transient

Transient Thing are Beautiful

Transient things are beautiful:
Orchid petals and last words,
And fragile fingers that clutch
Wearily ashen and creased,
Surprised expressions and double rainbows,
Napping butterflies in giant oaks,
The self-assured storm cloud,
The funereal shawl of an eclipse.

And constant things are beautiful:
The escalation of a smirk,
The tiptoeing of dusk
That inters itself into the horizon glow,
The arctic ice that fractures at end,
The smiling rise of day,
And the monolith that stands noble
In the midst of our decay.
