Illusion




Hitler’s eyes were many, a compliment to his purple pelt.
Viper’s eyes, mustard diamonds each—also, he did not eat.
Fed on wretchedness—also, he did not laugh.
A howl, an odd cough, phlegmatic cackle. Hitler
Did not love, animal that he was, heart of stone that he had—
Also, he could neither smile, nor see beauty nor show

Compassion. Hitler never breathed. Not like us. 
Never like us.
